Many people search for happiness in excitement, recognition, or success. Yet over time, they discover something deeper: a lasting sense of fulfilment often comes from living for something greater than oneself.
Purpose is not reserved for a special few.
It is a capacity that exists within every human being.
Often, the moment we begin to live with purpose is the moment life begins to feel truly our own.
Young adults and youth are not just the future;
you’re needed right now.
You carry energy, vision, and the courage to reshape the world — even if you don’t fully see it yet.
What if your life—right now—has a purpose you’re still discovering?
Purpose is not something imposed from the outside. It grows from within, as we begin to recognize our capacity to contribute to the world around us.
Every person reaches a moment when they begin to ask deeper questions.
Why am I here?
What difference can my life make?
What kind of person do I want to become?
Deep down, people want the same thing: to know their life truly matters.
Consider this question:
Why is youth from ages 15 and young adults to 29 such a powerful time?
Here’s another question:
What feels different about being young compared to later in life?
Is it energy? Idealism? The desire to change things that don’t feel right?
It is a time of strength—spiritual strength, not just physical. A time when hearts are open, and courage comes more easily.
What do you think the world is missing when your voices aren’t heard
Let’s talk honestly for a moment.
What pressures do youth face today?
Social media? Expectations? Confusion about identity or purpose?
We don’t pretend those pressures don’t exist. Instead, there are productive ways to build inner strength. Have you ever noticed how a few quiet moments can change your perspective?
Here’s a big question:
How does the world usually define success for young people?
Money? Fame? Followers? Degrees?
We ask a deeper question:
How does your life help others?
What might our world look like if education, work, creativity, and our unique talents were all expressions of service for the well-being of humanity?
Let’s be real again.
When you look at the world today, what worries you most?
Division? Injustice? Hopelessness?
Youth aren’t expected to fix everything. But they are encouraged to respond differently—to build unity, stand for justice, and act with love.
This conversation is inspired by spiritual principles that emphasize unity, human dignity, and the power of purposeful living. There is no pressure to adopt anything — only an invitation to reflect.
What kind of community helps youth thrive?
A community strives to be a place where youth are trusted, encouraged, and supported—where mistakes are part of learning for all, not reasons for judgment.
No one walks this path alone.
What if your youth is not something to rush through, but something sacred?
We invite youth and young adults to believe:
You are needed.
You are capable.
And your inner light matters.
A person's purpose is a stable, self-chosen, and long-term intention to accomplish something personally meaningful while contributing to the world beyond oneself. It acts as a compass, guiding daily decisions, actions, and goals, often rooted in passions, values, or a desire to make a positive impact.
Power, in its truest sense, is not about dominance or recognition. It is the capacity to shape one’s own character and contribute to the well-being of the world.
When we think of youth, society often says, “Wait your turn.”
But there is another way to see it.
This moment — your youth — is not a holding space.
It is a time of strength, clarity, and spiritual capacity.
Not a season for standing on the sidelines, but a season for discovering who you truly are.
Being young — or a young adult — isn’t simply about “figuring things out.” It is a powerful stage of life: a time of heightened capacity, moral awareness, and the ability to shape the future.
Bahá’í writings describe youth as a vital period of transition — rich with purpose, service, and growth, and essential to building a more unified and just world.
This space is inspired by that vision.
You are not just the future.
You are the present.
Youth are not “leaders in training.”
They are active protagonists now.
Your ideas matter.
Your choices matter.
Your actions — small or large — shape the world around you.
And this leads us naturally into a deeper conversation about power — and the kind of purpose that gives it meaning.
Youth today face enormous pressures—division, materialism, injustice, loneliness.
Our youth are learning to respond differently:
With unity instead of prejudice
With compassion instead of anger
With action instead of despair
You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need the courage to stand for a more unified and compassionate world.
Youth is not just a phase to get through—it is a sacred window of possibility.
A time to:
Discover your spiritual identity
Learn how to love humanity
And contribute to a future filled with hope
We invite youth and young adults to consider something powerful:
You were created for this time.
Your life has meaning.
The soul within you has a purpose.
And the light you carry from birth was placed within you for a reason.
Bahá’í writings invite us not to fear life — or even death — but to live with purpose, trusting that every experience can draw us closer to the person you are capable of becoming.
The heart is restless when it moves without direction.
But when life is guided by purpose,
even in difficulty,
a deeper peace begins to take root within.
Perhaps the question is not whether youth possesses power, but how that power is understood.
The world often measures power by influence, control, or visibility. Yet there is another kind of power — quieter, steadier, rooted in character, integrity, and the ability to uplift others.
When power is understood this way, purpose becomes clear. It is not about personal ambition alone, but about aligning our strengths with something greater than ourselves.
Contributing to unity
Contributing to Justice
Contributing to the well-being of humanity
Lasting change in the world begins within. Through reflection and conscious effort, we gradually cultivate qualities like courage, compassion, and integrity — qualities that shape both our character and our communities. In this way, the Bahá’í view can be understood as a path of inner growth and social renewal: strengthening the individual so that society itself can be uplifted out of the darkness of confusion and conflict.
If this is true… then what kind of power are we really talking about? Spiritual qualities that guide the choices that shape who we become and the kind of society we build.
They are not abstract ideals — they are expressed in action. Each time someone chooses honesty over convenience, compassion over indifference, or courage over fear, they are drawing upon their inner virtues. Qualities such as kindness, patience, justice, humility, generosity, and trustworthiness are not merely admirable traits; they are the building blocks of both personal growth for a more united world.
We invite you to consider:
Prayer is absolutely indispensable to one's inner development; "this is the very foundation and purpose of God,
the unknowable, infinite reality beyond human comprehension." Baha'i
We describe the unknowable as "the Giver, the Generous, the Merciful, the Forgiving, the Loving" and many more attributes because those are qualities we can relate to, even though God’s true essence is beyond our understanding. "For God is love." You can’t stare at the sun, but you know it's there; you can feel its warmth and see clearly by its light, rather than remaining in the dark, because you can't see where you're going.
“Love is the cause of God’s revelation unto man (mankind), the vital bond
inherent, in accordance with the creation of God,” Baha'i
The sun is a powerful analogy for a spiritual truth; could it be that the earth is created the way it is to help us understand spiritual realities? Our minds are finite; God is infinite, but that doesn’t mean God is distant.
We come to know the unknowable through:
The beauty and order of creation
The spiritual qualities within ourselves, such as love, justice, compassion, and truthfulness.
Connecting—prayer and meditation
Love: a spiritual force
Developing spiritual qualities
Serving humanity
Developing the soul
Expanding awareness to reality
In this view, the purpose of life becomes a sacred relationship: awakening the divine qualities latent within our being and letting them radiate outward first to our families, then our neighbours, our communities, our nation, and then the wider world, to all of humanity. “Women and men have been and will always be equal in the sight of God.” Baha'i
This intimate communication through prayer with the Divine is the path to true happiness, revealing the Creator within one's own being. It's an intimate act of turning inward to find God, always present within the human heart.
"The purpose of God in creating man (mankind) hath been, and will ever be, to enable
him (her) to know his (her) Creator and to attain His Presence." Baha'i
Are we created to know the One who knows us completely?
The Bahá’í view, true purpose unfolds as we draw closer to God, our Creator and discover those spiritual qualities latent within us. Each person awakens to this reality in their own time and in their own way.
In essence, this communion offers profound fulfilment and unity with the Divine. Communion through prayer and meditation is considered the sweetest and most blessed spiritual state, fostering spirituality, mindfulness, and heavenly feelings, describing prayer as a conversation. A way to hear His voice, and the ultimate source of joy and connection.
"The greatest attainment or the sweetest state is none other than
conversation with God. For God is love." Baha'i
This love connection awakens a deep and enduring joy, one that transcends the storms of negativity, depression, hatred, anger, and despair. This communion cultivates spirituality, mindfulness, new spiritual attractions, and higher intelligence, and one discovers a peace so deep that even these storms we face in the world cannot shake it.
When power is understood this way, purpose becomes clear…
Such a purpose does not develop by accident. It grows through intention. Through prayer, quiet reflection, and conscious effort, we strengthen the inner qualities that guide our choices and shape our character. Prayer is a profound source of spiritual power—more than speaking, it’s a two-way connection.
What if this profound connection… starts with you?
Bahá’í revealed Prayer peaceful and calming.
In the privacy of your own chamber.."If thou desirest that God may open thine eye, thou must supplicate unto God, pray to and commune with Him at midnight, saying:"
"O Lord, I have turned my face unto thy kingdom of oneness and am immersed in the sea of Thy mercy. O Lord, enlighten my sight by beholding Thy lights in this dark night, and make me happy by the wine of Thy love in the wonderful age. O Lord, make me hear Thy call, and open before my face the doors of Thy heaven, so that I may see the light of Thy glory and become attracted to Thy beauty. verily, Thou art the Giver, the Generous, the Merciful, the Forgiving."
We hope this conversation has contributed to your spiritual journey, nurturing inner joy and building of a more just and peaceful civilization. If you’d like to explore Baha'i further, you’re always welcome.
